Librarians on Location opens Monday, May 8 in Room 0205 (basement) in Old Main. The room is equipped with eight computers, and a librarian is available to assist students, faculty and staff with their research needs. The hours for the Spring semester are Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Thursday, June 22.

Students and faculty that have classes in Old Main, or cannot make it to one of the five main libraries, can consult with librarians that will be on site to assist in finding information to support their projects and assignments such as:

Locate books and journal articles on a topic;
Find and evaluate online information;
Answer questions on how to start a research project;
Advising sources to consult for research in a particular area;
Selecting the correct citation style.

During the Spring/Summer semester, while the basement of SEL is under reconstruction, the MathLab is being relocated to UGL in the second floor labs formerly known as the DMLC and Lab B.

The hours of operation will be:
Monday and Wednesday, noon to 9 p,m.
Tuesday and Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Wayne State Librarian Lothar Spang, and former WSU librarians, Janet Nichols and Kristy Padron co-authored an article that was recently named one of the Top 20 Librarian Instruction Articles of 2005 by the American Library Association Instruction Round Table (LIRT).

Their article, “Building a Foundation for Collaboration: K-20 Partnerships in Information Literacy,” traces the history of on-site workshops collaboratively developed by K-12 and university library staff; a continuing education course in information literacy for teachers and school librarians; an in-service workshop prepared collaboratively by a high school staff and university librarians; and a graduate-level library science course in information literacy for school library/media specialist students.

An annotated citation to the article will be published in the Top 20 list, which will be included in the June 2005 issue of LIRT News.

-View items checked out and when they are due
-Renew books online
-Check the status of requests you have made for library materials from WSU libraries or MelCat
-Create preferred searches and email alerts for library materials
-Select your preference in receiving Library Notices (via print or e-mail)

In order to make it easier for you to use, you will now be able to login
using theWSU access ID and password that you use to log into Pipeline instead of

From May 5 to August 20 the Undergraduate Library will have new hours of operation. The Extended Study Center will now be closing the same time as the library on all evenings except Sunday.
