“Recruiting and Educating the 21st Century Digital Projects Librarian”
|
The Wayne State University Library System/Library and Information Science Program in collaboration
with the Wayne State University Graduate School, the Detroit Historical Museums, the Detroit Public Library, the Reuther Library, and Michigan State University Library
are pleased to announce we have been
selected to receive an Institute of Museum and Library
Services (www.imls.gov) 2004 "21st Century Librarians" Grant. Only 26 grants were awarded nationally. Our award was the only one of its kind in Michigan. The grant will cover a three-year period beginning August 2004, and the amount of the award is $743,286. The partners will develop a unique approach to recruit and educate new digital projects librarians. Twenty individuals from underrepresented groups will be given stipends and placed in a mentoring relationship with senior librarians in the fields of systems, digital project development, metadata, digital archives, and museum management. |
