University Library Committee Minutes
May 15, 2002

Present: A. Goodman, chair-elect, K. Browne, J. Langlois, J. Moseley, R. Mattingly,
B. Lessin, L. Sutton, S. Yee, L. Johnston, guestMinutes of April 10, 2002 meeting were approved as distributed.

L. Johnston from the Office of General Counsel distributed 1) advice page for faculty on copyright, and 2) two options for Addendum to Publishing Agreement. Committee expressed preference for second option. K. Browne moved and J. Moseley seconded, that L. Johnston finalize text of Addendum so that A. Goodman can take to Academic Senate and AAUP. Motion passed.

Dean Yee updated the Committee on the progress toward electronic journals. 2002 will be known as the year of the “flip factor” when journal pricing models are built on the electronic, rather than print, copy. Libraries will make a decision this year on whether to go electronic only with Elsevier publications.

Dean Yee thanked outgoing Committee members. Next meeting will be held in the fall.
