NMIT supports instructional, research, and learning processes at Wayne State University through the provision of leadership in library and classroom technology selection, acquisition, implementation, training, and maintenance. Our primary focus is to provide the highest quality service to students, faculty, and staff in an effective and proactive environment.

- NMIT staff on the Computer Support Team provide support for nearly 1000 public, lab, classroom and lecture hall computers which receive nearly 10,000 logins per day.
- NMIT staff on the Digital Library Initiatives Team provide support for the Library System Web site which, in 2007 had 51 million hits, with 1.5 million visits from 377,000 different computers.
- NMIT staff support an Integrated Library System and Web-based interfaces that enable users to gain access to library resources. Up to 200,000 searches of our online catalog, for example, are successfully launched by users during a typical month.
NMIT is composed of the following teams:
Computer Support Team - Provides technical support to the faculty and staff of the Wayne State University Library System. CST members are assigned to different parts of the Library System, and also maintain a telephone help desk. If you are a WSULS staff member, please call the Help Desk at (313) 577-1154, during regular business hours to ask questions or report problems.
Digital Library Services - Charged with creating, integrating, structuring, and ensuring access to digitized information services and resources that support teaching, learning, and research at WSU, primarily by delivery on the Web. The team also manages and supports the libraries' Integrated Library System (ILS) and related interfaces, which are used for both external operations (such as our Library Catalog, Patron Empowerment services, etc.), and for internal operations (such as our acquisitions, cataloging, serials control, circulation, etc.).
Media Services - Strives to support teaching and learning at Wayne State University by providing the highest quality technical assistance, consultative advice, and customer service in areas such as multimedia audiovisual equipment support, audio/video taping services, and teleconference scheduling.
User Support Services - provides support for users of computers and computer resources in the WSU Libraries for scholarly, educational, informational, and professional development purposes. User Services includes the operation of Computer Support/Help Desks within the Libraries’ computing areas which serve as the first point of contact for all computer-related assistance.
Digital Library Initiatives Team - The Digital Library Initiatives Team facilitates the cooperative planning, implementation, and evaluation of content and applications for the Library System web site; the exchange of techniques and ideas relating to web development and design; the development of common goals for web site development; and the ongoing growth and refinement of the Library System's web site. The Digital Library Initiatives Team will identify training needs and act as a facilitator for communication with Web Content Coordinators. The Team also communicates major changes to campus partners such as Marketing and CIT.
