How to Borrow Materials
Bring library materials to any WSU library checkout/Access desk and present your WSU OneCard or WSU Libraries guest card and valid picture ID.
Loan Periods/Renewals
The standard loan period for undergraduates is 28 days for books, with an option for renewal. Faculty and Graduate students receive a semester-length loan. The due date will be stamped in the back inside cover of the books. Renewals can be placed through your "My Library Account".
Several requests placed on the same item will shorten the loan period. If so email notification will be sent.
Reserve materials are restricted to a shorter loan period.

Courtesy overdue notices are e-mailed to borrowers who have not renewed or returned an item. Patrons are responsible for fines and returning materials even when notices are not received. The maximum overdue fine is $20.00. A bill for the replacement is sent 42 days after the due date. When the item is returned, the borrower will not be held accountable for the replacement cost, but is responsible for overdue fines.
Schedule of replacement cost:
Note: If replacement cost is significantly higher we reserve the right to charge actual replacemnt value.
- $25 - Undergraduate Library
- $45 - Purdy/Kresge Library
- $71 - Arthur Neef Law Library
- $81 - Science & Engineering Library
- $125 - Shiffman Medical Library
Failure to return an item for which a borrower has been billed will result in the withdrawal of borrowing privileges. A continued lack of response may require the library to place a "hold" on student records, and/or refer the borrower to a collection agency.
Borrowers may pay fines and replacement fees in person at any WSU library circulation desk. All libraries accept exact cash or checks. In addition, Purdy/Kresge Library and the Adamany Undergraduate Library can accept Visa or Mastercard to pay fines. Note: Fines, fees, and replacement costs are subject to change without notice.
View Your Record
Borrowers may view a list of materials signed out, check due dates, correct address information, renew materials, and check to determine existing fines by using the WSU Library Catalog's "My Library Account". Enter the 14-digit number below the barcode on your OneCard or library card.
