Donating to the Elephant Research Foundation Library
Dear Friends:
Through the generosity of Dr. Shoshani and the Elephant Research Foundation Board, the ERF Library has been established at Wayne State University. Located in the university's Science and Engineering Library and in close proximity to the skeleton of the Asian elephant, Iki, prepared by Dr. Shoshani in the 1980's, the library is an exciting enhancement to the our institution's research collections. We are delighted to have been chosen for this important collection of resources concerning elephants, their precursors and relatives.
By the time you read these words, the vast majority of books from the ERF Library will have been cataloged. You may want to try accessing this collection by pointing a Web browser to:
Enter the words Elephant Research Foundation as either a title or keyword search and press the Submit Search button. You will immediately have a list of the books in the ERF Library. Other materials will be added to this list as they arrive and are prepared for access.
I am very pleased that Dr. Shoshani is leading the effort to obtain donations to support the ERF Library. A commitment of $10,000 is the minimum requirement to establish an endowed account at Wayne State University. This is an important first plateau for the ERF Library, as this amount will permit us to begin augmenting the collection from the interest gained on the $10,000 principle. We hope that you will join Dr. Shoshani and your colleagues in donating to the ERF Library in the near term. Every donation will be used to enhance the endowment unless we are requested to take other action on your behalf. Donations should be forwarded to Mr. B. Lessin, 3100 Undergraduate Library, Wayne State University, Detroit, MI 48202, USA. All checks should be made payable to Wayne State University. Please note in your correspondence or on your check that your donation is to go to the ERF Library endowment.
We look forward to hearing from you and to working with you in support of international elephant research and the preservation of this important species.
Sincerely,
Sandra Yee
Dean, University Libraries
