The Pharmacy and Health Sciences LRC, located within the Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences on the corner of Mack and John R in the Detroit Medical Center, supports the curricula of pharmacy and health sciences. The LRC has basic reference tools, reserve materials, books and a variety of media. A more extensive and complete collection for these disciplines is located in the Shiffman Medical Library. There is a computer laboratory for use by College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences students and faculty only. Please remember that food and drinks are not allowed in the LRC, Computer Lab or Small group Study rooms.

WSU students and faculty needing materials identified as being located at this LRC through Library Catalog are encouraged to call before visiting. The Shiffman Library staff can normally obtain materials located in the LRC for you.

Audiovisual Equipment

The LRC has a few peices of audiovisual equipment that faculty may borrow for class use. Prior reservations must be made to insure availability. Equipment includes: Two overhead projectors, two slide projectors, a Camcorder and a data projector cart with computer.

Circulation

The LRC's books circulate to Wayne State University faculty, staff, and students. A valid WSU One Card must be presented. Books can be renewed twice over the phone but have to be physically brought in for the third renewal. Renewals are allowed as long as another patron hasn't placed a hold on the book. Overdue fines for the LRC books are $1.00 a day.

Computer Lab

The LRC has a computer lab with 23 Client Pro Micron PC's, and 23 Macintosh computers. The lab provides access to the Internet, word-processing, spreadsheets, interactive software and e-mail. The lab can also be used as a teaching classroom. Connected to the instructors computer station is an Elmo projector and multimedia data projector. Printing is available on the PC side by using the IKON printer the cost is $.10 per page. You can also print from the Mac computers but you must provide your own paper. The LRC doesn't supply or sell paper. The lab is available to WSU students and faculty during LRC hours.

Copy Machines

There are two photocopy machines located in the LRC. The cost is $.10 per page. A One Card machine is located in the LRC to add value to your One Card.

Document Delivery / Interlibrary Loan

The LRC ( or any Wayne State University Library ) will obtain material not owned through interlibrary loan for faculty, students and staff at no charge. The usual time frame is about two weeks.

Reserve Materials

The LRC maintains books and files, which faculty members have placed on reserve for student use. These materials are for in-library use only. Several reserve materials can be found at http://reserves.lib.wayne.edu either by instructor name or course name. Overdue fines for reserve material are $1 per hour.

Study Rooms

The LRC has 11 small group rooms available for student use. These rooms must be reserved online at: http://ea.cphs.wayne.edu/cgi-bin/ureserve_gold.pl, in 3 hour blocks.
