OVERVIEW

ACP PIER© is a decision-support tool designed to provide evidence-based guidance for clinicians. It includes a collection of disease modules that can be searched or browsed alphabetically.

ACP PIER on PDA is available for Palm system to all WSU users. To access ACP PIER on your PDA, you need to:

  • Verify that you have either 20 MB available on your PDA’s main memory or 1 MB available on main memory and 19 MB on a memory card
  • Download application and run installation
    Note: To download remotely, use your WSU AccessID and password for authentication
  • HotSync to your Palm device
  • Register your device

The content will be updated monthly. Thus you are recommended to download the application monthly to keep up with ACP PIER's latest information.

 

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

  • 1 MB of primary memory and an additional 19 MB of primary memory or expansion card memory required
  • Palm OS® 4.0.1 or later
  • Palm HotSync® Manager 4.0 or later
  • Universal Serial Bus (USB) cable or cradle recommended

 

AUTHENTICATION

Downloading ACP PIER remotely from home requires that you authenticate with your WSU Access ID (e.g. aa1234) and password. If you require assistance on locating your AccessID and password, please click here (http://computing.wayne.edu/accessid/aboutaccessid.php) for instructions provided by the WSU C&IT department.

 

DOWNLOAD INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1: Click here to download the ACP PIER application and save it to your computer.

Step 2: Double click on STAT!RefPDA-PIER.exe and follow the instructions to install 'STAT!Ref PDA:PIER' onto your computer.

Note: If you do not have at least 20 MB of memory available on your PDA’s main memory, you will need to move the largest file, PPDOC.pdb (approx. 19MB), to your PDA’s Memory Card. You should move this file (PPDOC.pdb) using Palm’s Install Tool. Make sure you change the destination of the PPDOC.pdb file before you HotSync® to your PDA. All of the other files must reside in your PDA’s main memory.

Step 3: HotSync your PDA when installation is complete.

Step 4: Register your device.

  • Turn on your PDA, go to your PDA’s Home screen and tap the HotSync icon, and write down your HotSync ID displayed in the upper right-hand corner.
    Note: If this is the first time you are using your PDA, you should first install the Palm Desktop software (that came with your PDA) on your computer and follow the instructions to create your own HotSync ID.
  • Enter your Palm OS HotSync ID, your name and your e-mail address and click 'Submit'. You will receive your registration code via email.
  • Enter the registration code when 'STAT!Ref PDA :PIER' asks for it. You are ready to use this patient care tool now.
    Note:
    This code is good for 12 months.

'STAT!Ref PDA: PIER' is updated each month so remember to repeat steps 1 – 3 on a monthly basis to keep up with ACP PIER’s latest information.
